Hey family, this is Pastor Reggie. Welcome to Faith Beyond Trauma, where we, these people, to live the transformational life, which we define as being healed, liver, and set free of dead, doubt, worry, stress, and fear by grace through faith and manifesting God's good, pleasing, perfect will, your spirit, soul, and body. I was thinking as we're teaching about boundaries and not allowing the enemy to use us against us. I was thinking about the interplay between the spirit and our emotional lives. And I'm believing more and more that emotions left unchecked leave us open to um spiritual, to demonic influence, to demonic oppression and depression as well. Now, I'm not saying this is the only way, but as we think about Paul's writing to Timothy in 2 Timothy chapter 1, verse 7, but God not given up the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and silence of mind. So, in context, you could almost say that Timothy was being overwhelmed by what he's been what he was experiencing. Some of us are the same way. That's why we have this invitation from Jesus, Matthew chapter 11, come unto me, who all who wear can have a break, I will give you rest. Because you can be so overwhelmed by what you're hearing, what you're seeing, just one thing after another, that if we're not careful, that we don't see how the eye volos. He's penetrating. Penetrating. So he's throwing these fiery darts, and we know that it's the mind he wants to take control of. But typically, once again, it's outside in. And so if we're not careful, we can be overwhelmed because we're fighting a spiritual battle with non-spiritual weapons. The first weapon of spiritual warfare is to shield the faith. You have to keep out there, keep faith before you move forward by faith. And then you have the helmet of salvation. If we're not careful, then what happens is we can be overwhelmed so much by what we see and what we hear that we put down our own shields. We take off our helmets and we keep ourselves susceptible because we're flooded with so much information at one time. Some of us, we're not wired to be able to consume everything. All things are lawful, a few things are beneficial. So for some of us, you really need to turn off, turn it off. You it was your best interest to turn it off. Don't watch it. Find out as you're talking to somebody else. Some of us need to do something different with your algorithms because you are so connected that honestly you're disconnecting yourself with every swipe, with every search from the power of the Holy Spirit. Because your mind is not focused on the spirit, your mind is focused on the things of this world. You're so inundated, you're so you're so up to date on what's going on. I'm not saying don't be informed, but what I am saying is don't be so informed that you're being overwhelmed and you are self-sabotaging your own self. It sounds like the enemy doesn't have to fight because we are gonna hurt harm ourselves. We're so connected, so plugged in, then we're wondering what's going on. That's why getting away helps. That's why detaching from social media, detaching from your phone, even for a little while. That's why fasting is such a lost art. Because fasting is purest form, it's to deny the physical for the spiritual. And for some of us, it's just literally a call to fast.
SPEAKER_00:No, Reggie, no, Reggie, da da da da da, no, Reggie, no, Reggie.
SPEAKER_02:I agree. Totally agree. And so then when your faith doesn't work, then okay, was it really worth it? Some of us need to go low-tech. Most of us do. Consume so much, so many things. Even some of us godly thing. I'm not saying that you're wrong for listening to your faith-based uh podcast and faith-based television shows. You're keeping the word in your ears. But the problem is that you're getting so much word that you're not able to chew it and most importantly, use it. You got some things that honestly you need to talk through. You need to work through. Take the word that you're receiving and work through it with that person. Some things we need to just do. Go and talk to that person. Have that difficult conversation. It's okay. You're gonna be okay. What the enemy wants to do is make you feel like that you cannot do so. And by doing so, you won't be successful. But God is telling you, hey, that's why it keeps coming up. He wants you to address this here because that obedience here is the key to your movement forward, to all that God has called you to be. So, just thinking about that. It's like, hey, it's really critical that we take time and feed faith. Feed, invest, make the positive outcome that you want. If what you're consuming is not pushing you toward the things of God and what God wants you to say, wants you to do, wants you to have, wants you to be, what are you doing for what are you doing then? Why are you spending so much, why are you tithing your time in this area? And so then when you sow this here and you reap a harvest of that which you're watching, that what you're saying, that what you're doing, why are you mad now? No, this is what we we invested into. And so now we're lowering our emotional capacity to do the say the be. And as a result, we're reaping harvest that we don't like. Not because but because we don't want to be peculiar, because we don't want to look weird to them. We want to fit in with them to the point where we're disobeying Him. God has called you to give up something, God calls you to move, maneuver differently. But yet, your people pleasing is causing you to not do or to say what God has called you to do and say. Honestly, those people don't care whether you do or say what God calls you to do or say. They don't care. But you value them so much that you would disobey God. My friend, you've created an idol out of them. They have first place in your life.
SPEAKER_01:Not God, they do. For some of them, they're not even in real life people.
SPEAKER_02:These people are, like I say, they're on your social media, they're on your phone. But you tie your time to them faithfully. No matter what, you're gonna watch this, you're gonna do this, you're going and you're going and you're going. And as a result, when you don't get the results that God has meant for you.
SPEAKER_01:And you get the results of your consistent disobedience. Now we're mad. No, don't get mad.
SPEAKER_02:Make the adjustment. But God, I give another spirit of fear for an intimate, but of power and love and signs of mind. What do your consistent things that you watch? Does it equip you to walk in power? To walk in love, to walk in soundness of mind? Things you consistent your consistent pattern of what you hear, does it impus you toward walking in the spirit?
SPEAKER_01:What does it do? What are you saying?
SPEAKER_02:Does it cause you to to want to live healed, liver, and set full? Or is it a situation to where it's anything but that? Just consider that. The answer any of the questions is no, why are you doing it? One of the worst things about having kids is we have to consider them and all we think, say, and do. So if I wouldn't want my sons, my daughters to do what I'm doing, why am I doing it? And only and because I'm grown and go so far for so long. At some point.
SPEAKER_01:Why are we doing this?
SPEAKER_02:All things are lawful, but few things are of benefit. It's does it benefit your walk to do that? In Hebrews, it talks about laying aside every weight and sin. I love it, it delineates between both weight and sin. Some of us there are sin. Here's a habitual pattern of sin that's calling us not to walk in power, love and silence of mind. Totally agree. Others of us, it's weights. It's things that we carry, things that we do. That's not necessarily sin, but it's not necessarily helping us get closer to what you calls us to be. Walk in power, love and silence of mind. We have a choice to make.
SPEAKER_01:Do we continue to do it or do we give it up? Choice is ours. No, though whatever you give up for Christ, there's so much more to gain.
SPEAKER_02:Don't think if you're giving up Mother Father houses for my sake, that you won't be re you won't be rewarded, you will. Whatever he actually gives up.
SPEAKER_01:Mostly more of his glory. So I encourage you.
SPEAKER_02:Do not pet the spirit of fear. Don't pet it. Don't even pet the emotion of fear, just acknowledge the emotion. This is here. Look into it. See if there's anything alarming in the moment mean that you need to address or do in that moment.
SPEAKER_01:And get back over. Into your power, love, and silence somebody. I believe in you.
SPEAKER_02:Praying for you that you live healed, live set free. Dead doubt, word, restress, and fear. By grace through faith. Or like we should say, live transformational life until we meet again.
